About me (no)

“It is photography itself that creates the illusion of innocence. Its ironies of frozen narrative lend to its subjects an apparent unawareness that they will change or die. It is the future they are innocent of. Fifty years on we look at them with the godly knowledge of how they turned out after all – who they married, the date of their death – with no thought for who will one day be holding photographs of us.”
Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico Amanda Lucca came to the USA in 1974. Her father wanted her to learn English and experience the change of seasons, so he sent her to Salina Kansas to attend St. John’s School. Though inspired by photography at 18, his father encouraged her to pursue her studies and keep photography as a hobby. She attended Rockhurst College in Kansas City and received her degree in finance and economics in 1983. In 1995 she joined the Ralph Lauren advertising department as director of visual concepts where she worked closely with the ad team in developing campaign concepts working with Bruce Weber on several advertising shoots.
